HC Deb 20 February 1980 vol 979 c254W
Sir Anthony Boyle

asked the Secretary of State for Defence what are his policy guidelines on night flights routeing and frequency of military helicopter operations between Battersea heliport and the West.

Mr. Pattie

Except in emergency, civil and military helicopters are precluded by the terms of the heliport's licence from using Battersea heliport between 11 pm and 7 am. Further restrictions on military helicopter night flying over London are imposed by the Ministry of Defence. In practice military helicopter flights using Battersea heliport in the hours of darkness average no more than two a month, flying routes prescribed by the national air traffic control services.
