asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will seek to introduce stronger legislation to deal with ferruginous discharges into rivers in Scotland.

The problem which I think the hon. Member has in mind arises from an abandoned mine, and it is not yet clear whether this could be dealt with by legislation.
