HC Deb 04 December 1980 vol 995 c179W
41. Mr. John Home Robertson

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will make a statement on the current state of the poultry industry in England and Wales.

Mr. Buchanan-Smith

The United Kingdom is largely self-sufficient in poultrymeat. Production in 1980 is expected to show little change compared with production in 1979, which was some 3 per cent. up on that of 1978. Production in England and Wales has accounted for approximately 84 per cent. of United Kingdom production in recent years.
