HC Deb 02 December 1980 vol 995 c114W
Mr. McKelvey

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what facilities are available in Ayrshire for the young chronic sick; and if he is satisfied that they are adequate.

Mr. Fairgrieve

There is separate accommodation for 15 young chronic sick patients at Biggart Memorial hospital, Prestwick, and smaller numbers of other such patients are accommodated in hospital units as near as possible to their own homes. It is for Ayrshire and Arran health board to determine whether these facilities are adequate, but I understand it has the matter under review.
