HL Deb 21 April 1980 vol 408 c633WA
Lord AVEBURY

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Which of the recommendations of the Blennerhassett Report on Drinking and Driving 1976; the House of Commons Expenditure Committee on Preventive Medicine as regards alcohol 1977; the Royal College of Psychiatrists' Report on Alcohol and Alcoholism 1979 and the former Advisory Committee on Alcoholism Report on Prevention 1977 have been implemented; and whether they will list those recommendations concerning alcohol contained in these reports which are still to be decided upon.

Lord CULLEN of ASHBOURNE

Just before Christmas 1979, my right honourable friend the Minister of Transport issued a consultative document with a view to legislation inviting up-to-date comments from a wide range of interested organisations on the recommendations of the Blennerhassett Report.

The Government have under consideration the recommendations on the prevention of alcohol misuse contained in the other reports referred to. As there are over 20 separate recommendations, I shall be writing to the noble Lord with a list, and placing a copy in the Library.
