HL Deb 03 April 1980 vol 407 c1480WA
Lord EVANS of CLAUGHTON

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they have in mind making any adjustment to the provision for the spouse on the death of a person intestate, bearing in mind that the statutory legacy, at present £25,000 where there is issue, is now often less than the value of the matrimonial home.

The LORD CHANCELLOR

I am always ready to consider the case for altering the level of the statutory legacy, and I will bear the noble Lord's point in mind.
