HC Deb 27 March 1979 vol 965 cc101-2W
31. Mr. William Hamilton

asked the Secretary of State for Employment what representations he has received in the last three months on the allegedly wasteful expenditure of public money on job subsidy schemes; what is the total cost of such subsidisation; and what reply he has given to those representations.

Mr. Golding

My right hon. Friend has received no representations about wasteful expenditure but has received a complaint about an individual award of temporary employment subsidy. He replied to the effect that the payments had been correctly made. The gross cost, since their inception, of current job subsidy schemes is approximately £407 million.
