HC Deb 27 March 1979 vol 965 c102W
32. Mr. Anthony Grant

asked the Secretary of State for Employment if he is satisfied with the working of the Government's regional policy so far as employment is concerned; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Golding

I am satisfied that the Government's regional policy has been of substantial value in maintaining and creating employment in those parts of the country most in need and in moderating the effects of the world recession. We would, however, welcome further advantage being taken of measures such as the small firms employment subsidy for non-manufacturing firms and the special temporary employment programme which has a regional bias.
