HC Deb 19 March 1979 vol 964 c452W
Mr. Craigen

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what is the latest progress being made by the Manpower Services Commission in Scotland over the establishment of an additional skillcentre in Glasgow; and if the Commission is still taking into account the representation made about the location in the northwest of the city at sites in Cowlairs and Maryhill Road.

Mr. Gregor MacKenzie

I am advised by the Manpower Services Commission that negotiations for the acquisition of a site for the new skillcentre in Glasgow are still in progress. Possible sites in Cowlairs and Maryhill Road have been very carefully considered. First indications are however that the most advantageous location in terms of serving Glasgow's training needs would be a site on the south side of the city.
