HC Deb 12 March 1979 vol 964 c61W
Mrs. Renée Short

asked the Minister of Overseas Development if she will implement her promise to War-on-Want to pay the transport cost of medical supplies and other aid being set through Khartoum to Eastern Eriteria.

Mrs. Hart

In August and November 1978 I agreed to provide two grants of £25,000 each through the Disasters Emergency Committee to help meet the cost of transporting voluntary agencies' relief supplies to the Horn of Africa, including supplies for both sides of the conflict in Eritrea sent through the International Committee of the Red Cross. £46,000 of this has now been committed by the DEC.

ICRC is dividing relief supplies for Eritrea betwen the Eritrean Relief Association and the Eritrean Red Cross and Crescent according to need.
