§ Mr. Tilleyasked the Secretary of State for Employment whether he will make a statement on the progress of discussions with the Confederation of British Industry, the Trades Union Congress and the Commission for Racial Equality about the monitoring of the equal opportunity policies of Government contractors.
§ Mr. John GrantThe CBI, TUC and CRE were informed last November of the Government's proposals for monitoring the general employment policies and practices of Government contractors and were invited to discuss them. Consultations are still in progress. I hope that it will prove possible to identify and resolve any difficulties fairly quickly so that the consultations can be brought to an early and satisfactory conclusion.
