HL Deb 12 June 1979 vol 400 c606WA
Lord O'HAGAN

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they are aware that scallops have been over-fished in the South-West; and what action they will take.

Earl FERRERS

I am advised that South-West scallop stocks are not being over-exploited, although there has been a high proportion of small scallops in recent catches. The Government are considering whether any conservation measures designed to protect these stocks would be desirable.
