§ Mr. Spearingasked the Minister of Transport if he will publish in theOfficial Report the approximate train mileage cancelled by British Railways to a recent date in order to save fuel in each of the following categories: scheduled services, "Merrymaker" or other excursions and private charter trains.
§ Mr. FowlerThe British Railways Board says that, up to 14 July, the fuel economy measures introduced on 11 June640W had led to the following reductions in train mileages:
Scheduled services 160,000 Excursions and private charter trains 52,000 These figures represent an overall reduction of no more than about 1 per cent.
