HC Deb 24 July 1979 vol 971 cc232-3W
Mr. Gordon Wilson

asked the Minister for the Civil Service if he will make a further statement on the impact of the Institution of Professional Civil Servants' dispute in Government services and defence; and if he will indicate the progress the negotiations are making.

Mr. Channon

The campaign of selective industrial action by the Institution of Professional Civil Servants is now in its fourth week. Contingency measures, where appropriate, are in hand and the action is at present not jeopardising essential operations, health, safety or national security. Questions about the impact of the action at any particular establishment are for the Minister concerned.

My right hon. and noble Friend the Lord President and I met an Institution of Professional Civil Servants' delegation led by its general secretary on Friday, 20 July on this dispute, and discussions are continuing.
