Mr. Tom Ellisasked the Secretary of State for Social Services what proposals he has for developing health education.
§ Sir George YoungIn framing proposals for the development of health education my right hon. Friend will study carefully the recommendations in the Expenditure Committee's report on preventive medicine made in the last Parliament, and the White Paper "Prevention and Health" (Cmnd. 7047) published in December 1977 as a response to that report. He will also, as part of the Government's general review of quangos, be re-examining the role and functions of the Health Education Council to see whether it can become a more effective force for the promotion of good health.
