§ Mr. Allen McKayasked the Secretary of State for Employment what is the 652W number of unemployed persons in the Penistone constituency area by category and age; and what is the number of persons in the same categories in employment due to Government measures.
§ Mr. Golding, pursuant to his reply [Official Report, 2 April 1979], gave the following answer:
The following table gives for the areas covered by the Chapeltown and Hoyland employment offices, which together closely correspond to the Penistone parliamentary constituency, the numbers of people registered as unemployed at 11 January, the latest date for which an age analysis is available, analysed by sex and by age ranges.
Age Groups Males Females Under 18 1 1 18 12 19 19 20 24 20–24 95 81 25–29 72 30 30–34 67 22 35–44 80 17 45–49 42 8 50–54 54 9 55–59 98 18 60 and over 273 — I regret that the information relating to the number of persons by category in employment due to Government measures is not available. However, 870 people have to date been helped in the Chapel-town and Hoyland employment office areas by the Government's special employment measures.
