§ Mr. Warrenasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department why at the 1974 and 1975 Geneva Conferences on the allocation of broadcast frequencies his Department was unable to maintain the frequencies already held by the United Kingdom and was further unable to secure more for the expansion of services in the United Kingdom.
§ Mr. Merlyn ReesUnder the provisions of the international frequency plan agreed at the Geneva Conference in 1975, which conies into effect on 23rd November this year, the United Kingdom secured a counterpart for each of the assignments used at present in the United Kingdom's domestic services, and for assignments on a further low frequency and three further medium frequencies. Provision for the use of frequencies for the broadcasting stations overseas for which the United Kingdom has responsibilities has also been retained. The agreement provides for additional stations to be added to the plan in accordance with specified coordination procedures.
