HC Deb 27 November 1978 vol 959 c1W
Mr. Powell

asked the Secretary of State for Prices and Consumer Protection, in view of representations made to him upon the Consumer Credit (Total Charges for Interest) Regulations 1977, what proposals he has for making new regulations or, if necessary, amending the enabling Act.

Mr. John Fraser:

I have in mind to amend the Consumer Credit (Total Charge for Credit) Regulations 1977 to exclude endowment insurance premiums from the total charge for credit. To achieve truth in lending appropriate disclosures will be required in the proposed advertisements and quotations regulations. I am also considering certain other less significant changes in the regulations.
