costs of any sort whatsoever, namely, expenditure on its own programmes, wages, rent, heating and lighting, maintenance, &c., in the latest 12 months for which figures are available; and what are the projected costs for 1978–79.

Mrs. Shirley Williams

The total costs incurred by the Schools Council for 1976–77 and the estimated costs for 1978–79 are as follows:

Mrs. Shirley Williams

The total cost of running the Technician Education Council for the period 1st October 1976 to 30th September 1977, was £517,175, at outturn prices, a full statement of income and expenditure for this period can be found in the Council's report and accounts, a copy of which has been placed in the Library. Expenditure for the fiscal year to 31st March 1979 is expected to be about £1 million.

The Council's income is from Exchequer deficiency grant and registration fees. As the number of students registered for the Council's awards increases, so will their fee income. On present forecasts, deficiency grant will not be needed from the early 1980s.
