asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what has been the total cost of running the Crafts Advisory Committee, including all main constituent costs of any sort whatsoever, such as expenditure on its own programmes, wages, rent, heating and lighting, maintenance, &c., in the latest 12 months for which figures are available; and what are the projected costs for 1978–79.

The total net expenditure of the Crafts Advisory Committee in financial year 1976–77 was £668,467, at outturn prices, of which £267,828 was for grants. The estimated net expenditure in 1978–79 is £796,500 of which £394,100 is for grants, at November 1977 prices.
