HC Deb 23 March 1978 vol 946 cc648-9W
Mr. Hooley

asked the Minister of Overseas Development what steps are being taken by Her Majesty's Government to assist the Food and Agricultural Organisation of the United Nations in its work in dealing with reduction of food losses.

Mrs. Hart

I attach the highest importance to any measures which can be taken to assist in the reduction of food losses in the developing world and have supported the setting up of a special fund by FAO for that purpose. The Government are making an immediate grant of £750,000 to the fund. I have also authorised FAO to transfer to the fund a sum of dollars equivalent to about £375,000 standing to this Government's credit in another FAO account.
