§ 33. Mr. William Hamiltonasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department, in the light of the fact that the hon. Member for Fife, Central, several weeks ago telephoned, subsequently wrote to, and then saw, Ministers from his Department concerning the immigration and detention at Heathrow Airport of the father of a Pakistani constituent; and that despite these repeated representations by the hon. Member, no written acknowledgment or statement of any kind 836W has been given to the hon. Member about the case, what steps he intends to take to end this gross inefficiency and discourtesy.
§ Dr. SummerskillMy hon. Friend first wrote to me about this case on 19th June. An acknowledgment was sent on 26th June. I regret that no further communication was sent to my hon. Friend about the case until 20th July, when an interim reply was sent indicating that further inquiries had been made. I hope that my hon. Friend will receive a letter shortly conveying a final decision on the case.
