HL Deb 14 February 1978 vol 388 c1408WA
Baroness WOOTTON of ABINGER

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What is the maximum sentence of imprisonment that has yet been imposed in any case of aiding, abetting, counselling or procuring another's suicide under Section 2 of the Suicide Act 1961.

Lord HARRIS of GREENWICH

Up to the end of 1976, which is the last year for which figures are available, no person had been sentenced to a term of immediate imprisonment for an offence under Section 2 of the Suicide Act 1961. Two persons had been sentenced to a suspended sentence of imprisonment for such an offence.
