HL Deb 14 February 1978 vol 388 c1408WA
Lord GARDINER

asked Her Majesty's Government:

When they intend to have conducted the experiment in the tape-recording of police interrogation which was recommended in 1972 by the Criminal Law Revision Committee and in 1975 by the Thomson Committee and which the Hyde Committee in 1976 found to be feasible.

Lord HARRIS of GREENWICH

The Home Office is at present preparing a paper for the Royal Commission on Criminal Procedure about the possibility of a tape-recording experiment so that the views of the Commission can be obtained on the desirability and scope of an experiment, in relation to its own work, before a final decision is taken.
