HC Deb 16 November 1977 vol 939 c252W
57. Mr. Ward

asked the Secretary of State for Transport in the light of the greatly increased traffic flow, especially of heavy lorries from east coast ports, on the A47 road at Thorney and Eye, Cambridgeshire, when he expects a proposal to be formulated for bypasses around these villages.

Mr. Horam

These bypasses form part of the proposal for the improvement of the A47 between King's Lynn and Peterborough added to the preparation pool in 1975. Studies are in progress as to the best method of dealing with this road and I cannot yet say how and when improvements will be made, although I hope to reach conclusions fairly soon.
