HC Deb 16 November 1977 vol 939 c252W
58. Mr. Ogden

asked the Secretary of State for Transport what consideration he has given to the continuation of the Channel Tunnel rail link; and what consultations he has had to ensure the support of the United Kingdom's partners in the European Economic Community for this endeavour.

Mr. William Rodgers

There has been no change in the Government's position since the statement made in the House by the late Mr. Crosland the then Secretary of State for the Environment on 20th January 1975, when the Channel Tunnel project was abandoned. In these circumstances, consultations of the kind my hon. Friend has in mind would be inappropriate and none has taken place.
