§ Mr. Harold WalkerMy hon. Friend has sent me details of one case, in which, for various reasons, it is taking a long time for a final judicial decision to be reached. Having examined this case I do not consider that any change in the law would have helped to expedite matters.
§ Mr. Hollandasked the Secretary of State for Employment what is the total number of industrial tribunals established under Section 12 of the Industrial Training Act 1964; and how many of those have been established since the enactment of the Employment Protection Act 1975.
§ Mr. Harold WalkerThere is no fixed total number of industrial tribunals, since each tribunal is convened, as required, from a panel of chairmen and two panels of lay members. On average, 77 tribunals currently sit in Great Britain every working day. The corresponding figure for November 1975, when the Employment Protection Act received Royal Assent, is 57.
