§ Mr. Newtonasked the Secretary of State for Transport when he expects to receive the final results of the study of the possible use of rumble areas as a highway safety measure and to issue guidance to highway authorities.
§ Mr. HoramA Transport and Road Research Laboratory report on the effectiveness of rumble areas in alerting drivers to road hazards is due to be published next January. Guidance to highway authorities will be considered when the findings have been studied.
