HC Deb 11 November 1977 vol 938 cc263-4W
Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Prime Minister whether he will publish in the Official Reporta detailed list giving the number of persons in his Department who were, on 1st November 1977, in receipt of salaries of £135 or more per week; how long they have received such salaries; and what were their designations or gradings.

The Prime Minister:

As at 1st November 1977, 18 employees in No. 10 Downing Street were receiving £135 or more per week in salaries. It is not the practice to publish in theOfficial Reportdetails of the remuneration of individual civil servants nor the length of time for which particular salaries have been in payment to individuals; but the figure of 18 comprises: one deputy secretary; one senior policy adviser; one chief press secretary; one policy adviser; three assistant secretaries; two chief information officers (B); two principals; two principal information officers; four assistant private secretaries; one office manager.
