HC Deb 11 November 1977 vol 938 c264W
Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Prime Minister whether he will advise all Ministers that when taxpayers write to them and their Departments they should ensure that a reply is sent to such letters, in the light of the fact that the letter from Mr. M. D. Barnard of Stratford, was not answered until the hon. Member for Newham, North-West wrote and protested to the Secretary of State for Transport.

The Prime Minister:

As my hon. Friend is aware, Ministers already understand the need to ensure that correspondence from members of the public is dealt with promptly. I understand that my hon. Friend has taken up the individual case to which he refers with my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Transport.
