HC Deb 10 November 1977 vol 938 c219W
Mr. Lomas

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what is the total number of electors entitled to vote on the present register of electors.

Mr. John:

The provisional figure of the number of parliamentary electors on the 1977 Register is given in the OPCS Monitor "Electoral statistics" reference EL77/2, issued on 14th June 1977, as 40,959,806.

Mr. Lomas

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will indicate the total number of the population over the age of 18 years who do not register, and are therefore not shown on the electoral lists.

Mr. John:

I regret that this information is not available.
