Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he will publish in theOfficial Reportas full and detailed a table of figures as may be available giving all wages, salaries, overtime cash and other benefits in kind, including clothing allowances, rent allowances, and pensions, etc., paid to the police, firemen, ambulance men and nurses, on as comparative basis as may be possible.

Mr. Merlyn Rees:

As regards the salaries and other benefits payable to the police and to firemen, I would refer my hon. Friend to the replies given to Questions he asked on 16th June—[Vol. 933, c. 222–3 and 225–6].

Pay and conditions of service of nurses and ambulance men are matters for my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Social Services.
