§ Mr. Benyonasked the Secretary of State for Employment what is the present size of the Health and Safety Executive Inspectorate; and what is its projected establishment when fully operative.
Mr. GrantAt 1st May 1977 there were 4,010 staff in post in the Health and Safety Executive. Of this total, 2,141 were "professional" staff, including inspectors of specific functional areas, doctors, nurses, scientists and also legal, information etc. staff. In order to complete the planned expansion of the inspectorates in HSE it is projected that by 1st April 1982 the total number of posts will be of the order of 4,700.
