HC Deb 17 March 1977 vol 928 cc288-9W
Mr. Pattie

asked the Secretary of State for Defence if, with reference to paragraph 105 of Cmnd. Paper No. 6735, he will detail (a) the miscellaneous reductions (b) the selective cancellations and (c) which projects are to be deferred.

Dr. Gilbert

The miscellaneous reductions embrace research and development, administration and travel, a variety of small economies in naval stores and dockyard items, civilian staff, accommodation stores and other minor items. The selective cancellations of equipment involve the Stretched Ikara project for the Navy, the Mark 29 cupola for the Army, and various minor Army and RAF items. Deferment of financial provision for equipment projects covers medium lift helicopters and minor equipments for the RAF. In addition expenditure on the airborne early warning project will be less than planned, pending decisions by NATO.
