HC Deb 17 March 1977 vol 928 c289W
Mr. Pattie

asked the Secretary of State for Defence if he will list the United Kingdom land and air contributions to ACE mobile force and to the strategic reserve of SACEUR.

Mr. Robert C. Brown

The United Kingdom's current contribution to SACEUR's strategic reserve comprises a battalion group, a Harrier Squadron, support units and four Puma helicopters for the ACE Mobile Forces; and two air-portable brigades and associated logistic support, three Jaguar Squadrons and Puma and Wessex helicopters of the United Kingdom Mobile Force. By April 1978 the land element of the UKMF will be reduced to a new formation of five battalions to be known as the 6th Field Force which will include a limited parachute capability retained by one battalion group.
