§ Mr. Pattieasked the Secretary of State for Defence if he will list the number of schemes for rationalisation in the personnel and logistics field which have been implemented, as referred to in paragraph 157 of Cmnd. Paper No. 6735.
§ Dr. GilbertArrangements under which logistic support is provided by one Service on behalf of all three have been implemented for MT vehicles; MT spares; food; accommodation stores; medical and dental stores; small arms and small arms ammunition; moorings and salvage gear; water transport and spares; aviation fuel; tents, textiles and certain clothing, including flying clothing; many air stores; fixed-wing aircraft aeroengines and airframes; rotary-wing aircraft aero engines and airframes; time-measuring instruments; field equipment and certain other stores of similar character. Outside the field of logistic support a variety of joint Service arrangements have been introduced. Major instances are the integration of Ministry of Defence police; the establishment of a unified defence communications network; joint-Service co-operation in the medical field; inter-Service treatment of patients; joint-Service co-operation in the field of Service children's education; joint training in a number of fields; and the introduction of joint arrangements at some 50 recruiting offices.
