HC Deb 21 June 1977 vol 933 cc402-3W
38. Mr. Michael Spicer

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services whether he is satisfied with the length of waiting time for non-emergency surgical operations in hospitals within the Worcester Health District.

Mr. Moyle

Despite the fact that there are fewer people on waiting lists per available bed in Worcester than in most other health districts in the West Midlands, waiting times are longer than I would wish. A scheme to replace the operating theatres at the Worcester Royal Infirmary has been put forward for inclusion in the 1977–78 health building programme. If my right hon. Friend is able to approve its inclusion, we hope it will lead to some reduction in waiting times.
