§ Mr. Monroasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what will be the effect of the reduced budget of the Forestry Commission on plantings in the industry.
§ Mr. StrangAlthough the amount of money allocated for the acquisition of land for planting has been reduced in the financial year 1977–78 and will affect the size of its reserves of plantable land, the Forestry Commission expects to be able to plant in this year about the same area as it did in 1976–77—that is, 19,000 hectares, including restocking. The reduced budget will not affect planting or management grants paid to private woodland owners.
