HC Deb 28 July 1977 vol 936 cc470-1W
Mr. Richard Wainwright

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what plans he has to impose penalties on producers who market substandard potatoes.

Mr. Bishop

Responsibility for quality standards for home-produced potatoes in Great Britain rests with the Potato Marketing Board, whose staff carry out inspections with the aim of ensuring that the standards are observed. Under the Potato Marketing Scheme financial penalties may be imposed on registered producers who contravene such quality requirements.
