HC Deb 18 July 1977 vol 935 cc359-61W
Mr. Carter-Jones

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will list, in rank order, the sum each local authority in England expects to receive from the Post Office as a rebate on telephone bills of disabled people for whom the authority is paying the rental.

Mr. Alfred Morris

The figures appended are based upon numbers of telephone rentals paid by local authorities during the year ending 31st March 1976. Comparable figures in respect of 1976–77 are not yet available. There will inevitably be variations between these figures and the actual rebates made. It is not possible to make any estimate of what proportion of the whole would be retained by local authorities as opposed to individual subscribers.

to whooping-cough vaccine from doctors in the Wessex Health Authority Region. One came from the Wiltshire area in 1974 and one from the Dorset area in 1976. Causal relationship between the events reported and the use of the vaccine has not been established. In these cases several vaccines were given simultaneously and it is not clear to which vaccine, if any, the suspected reaction should be attributed. Reports to the Committee on Safety of Medicines do not normally specify the name of the vaccine manufacturer.

I am making inquiries about at risk registers in the Wessex Region and will write to the hon. Member.
