Mr. Adley

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services in respect of the area health authorities within the Wessex Regional Health Authority, what was (a) the number of whooping-cough vaccinations carried out annually for each of the last five years (b) the number of adverse reactions reported, from each area health authority, to the Committee on the Safety of Medicines (c) the whooping-cough manufacturers to which these adverse reactions were attributed (d) the number of children in each authority on the "at risk" register (e) the number "at risk" children vaccinated and the reactions noted and (f) the percentage of live births in each area health authority represented by the total of children on the "at risk" list.

The number of whooping-cough vaccinations carried out annually for each of the last three years is given in the attached table. Figures for earlier years are not available on a comparable basis, owing to the alteration of boundaries involved in National Health Service and local authority reorganisation.
