asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will carry out an inquiry into the serious enteritis-type outbreak among young children in the Cannock area, evidence of which has been supplied to him; and if he will make a statement.

The Staffordshire Area Health Authority is investigating the causes of the outbreak and taking all necessary measures to prevent it spreading. I have asked the Authority to let me know the result of its investigations and I will write to my hon. Friend when I have this information.
