§ 32. Mr. Douglas-Mannasked the Secretary of State for the Environment what subsidy is payable to local authorities on the acquisition from Government Departments and other public authorities of residential properties subject to tenancies; whether there has been any, and if so what, change in practice in recent years; and what steps he proposes to ensure that residential tenants of properties owned by Government Departments or public authorities are not evicted from their homes to facilitate the sale of such properties when they become surplus to requirements.
§ Mr. FreesonSince 1975 subsidy has not normally been paid on the acquisition cost of tenanted properties where no works of repair, improvement or conversion are intended. It is not the practice of Government Departments nor, so far 231W as I Know, of other Public authorities to evict tenants for the Purpose suggested.
