§ 31. Mr. Adleyasked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will make a statement on his proposals to review the housing legislation introduced by the Government, in the light of the fall in the availability of rented accommodation following the passage of this legislation.
§ Mr. FreesonA consultation paper inviting evidence and comments from organisations or individuals who wish to contribute to the review of the Rent Acts was published on 31st January. The Government's objectives in carrying out the review are set out in paragraph 14 of the paper. The decline of private renting is attributable to many factors and has continued at different rates under successive Governments.
