§ 33. Mr. Geoffrey Finsbergasked the Secretary of State for the Environment by how much housing association grants have been cut for 1977–78; and by how much they will be cut for 1978–79.
§ Mr. FreesonThe Housing Corporation has been asked to make public expenditure savings of £57 million in 1977–78 and a corresponding reduction in 1978–79 of which the exact amount has not yet been determined. However, negotiations are proceeding for the Housing Corporation to obtain private sector loans which will substantially reduce the impact of the public expenditure savings and enable them to preserve the main priorities of the housing association programme.
