HC Deb 10 February 1977 vol 925 c800W
Mr. Fitt

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland whether he will repeal or amend the Payment of Debts Act in Northern Ireland in view of the fact that its application is causing hardship and distress.

Mr. Mason

No. Every effort is made to avoid so far as possible genuine hardship or distress to the debtor, and I hope shortly to announce various detailed modifications in the operation of the benefit allocation scheme.
