HC Deb 10 February 1977 vol 925 c751W
Mr. Hall-Davis

asked the Secretary of State for Transport if, in order to assist touring caravanners to locate their destinations, he will take steps to amend the form of his Department's directional sign for caravan sites so as to enable the name of the site to be included, thus bringing them in line with the directional signs for historic houses.

Mr. Horam

We try to keep road signs as simple as possible, and avoid unnecessary legend. For caravanners it is usually enough to know where a site is available, but people intending to visit a particular historic house need more specific guidance. I do not think that this distinction should be changed.
