HC Deb 10 February 1977 vol 925 c751W
Mr. Roy Hughes

asked the Secretary of State for Transport if he will list those enterprises sold or proposed to be sold from the public to the private sector; and if he will make a statement on Her Majesty's Government's policy towards such sale.

Mr. William Rodgers

The only current case of which I am aware is the proposed sale of British Transport Docks Board's towage activities at Newport, which involves two tugs, to Cory Ship Towage Limited. The board believes that this sale will lead to a more efficient towing service being provided in the port. I see no reason to dissent from this view and have no powers to intervene.
