HC Deb 16 December 1977 vol 941 cc582-3W
Mr. Awdry

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services whether he is aware of any proposals in the county of Wiltshire for the provision of adult special care units for severely handicapped persons over the age of 16 years.

Mr. Moyle

Wiltshire County Council has no plans at present to provide special care units for severely handicapped adults, since it regards the provision of additional residential and day care facilities for the elderly as its greatest priority for the limited resources available to it.

However, the county council plan to open early in 1978 a new centre at Odstock, Salisbury, with 24 day care and eight residential places for multi-handicapped adults.
