Mr. Jim Callaghanasked the Secretary of State for Prices and Consumer Protection whether the price increases to small and medium-sized filter cigarettes announced by Gallagher as a result of the new tax system imposed by the Chancellor from 1st January 1978 to comply with EEC requirements have been notified to the Price Commission.
§ Mr. MaclennanLike other major manufacturers, Gallagher Limited is required to give the Price Commission advance notice of intended price increases. The increases referred by the hon. Member fall within this requirement.
